“I am constantly inspired by the amazing work that my colleagues and peers do. When I am able to learn more about a specialty or interest that a colleague is involved with, it motivates and inspires me to continue building my own growth and my own clinical lense.”

About Me
Hi, my name is Carla and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am passionate about assisting my clients in reaching their goals, and I’m happy that you’re here to take your first steps towards that! I specialize in supporting adults with navigating issues such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma and more. I believe therapy should be a space where meaningful, sustainable changes can be supported. My approach is collaborative, strength-based, and grounded in helping clients feel safe & empowered. I am committed to providing culturally responsive, strengths-based therapy in a safe and nonjudgmental space, which honors your unique background and lived experience.
Why did you decide to become a social worker?
I have known I've wanted to be a social worker since I was thirteen years old! I was assigned a project in my English class, where we had to research and present on a career that we wanted to pursue. I took the project a little too seriously, and continued to research after the assignment was turned in. When I learned more about all of the settings and types of help that a social worker could provide, I truly feel that I had found my calling. Being a first-generation Latina, I saw glimpses of social work everywhere in my upbringing within my family and my community. I am grateful and happy to be where I am today.
What types of clients are you most excited to work with?
I'm excited to work with clients who are open to all that therapy brings - new ideas, emotions, perspectives, and more. Most of all, I am excited to work with clients from all walks of life and learning about each client's unique story.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
I wish all clients knew that therapy can be awkward and uncertain at first! There are some sessions you may walk away from therapy feeling as though you conquered your biggest obstacle. There are other times you may walk away with more questions than with what you arrived. I look forward to working through all of this along with you
Why did you choose to practice at Ashe Counseling?
Ashe & the values it stands by align with my own views and ethics as a social worker. I appreciate its value on diversity and providing a supportive space for both clinicians and clients. I am excited to continue to hone my clinical skills and learn much more with Ashe.
