“What inspires me the most is experiencing and witnessing community building. We need each other more than we think, and it is beautiful to see community being built and leaning on one another through the good and hard times”

About Me

Hello, my name is Laura Garcia, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am a first-generation Latina, I understand the complex layers of navigating multiple identities, family expectations, cultural values and mental health. I bring this lived experience into the room with deep empathy and cultural sensitivity.
I specialize in supporting teens and young adults process and navigate difficult emotions, heal from trauma and build healthier relationships with themselves and others. I know how overwhelming it can be to feel like you’re carrying so much, especially when you’re expected to be strong or keep it together. I am passionate about providing a safe and non-judgmental space for clients as that is important in building a true collaborative relationship in the space. My approach blends a variety of therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic, and Person-centered Therapy. I am also passionate about viewing clients holistically – looking not just at what’s happening emotionally, but also how outside factors may be impacting you.
Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed or just trying to understand yourself better, I’m here to walk alongside you. Therapy doesn’t have to be intimidating – it can be a space where you feel grounded, gain clarity, and begin to thrive.

Why did you decide to become a social worker?

I chose to become a social worker because I wanted to provide the support to others that I didn’t have when I needed it. I want to provide a safe and non-judgement space for individuals to process and navigate difficult experiences. I am passionate about helping them through that process and advocating for their needs

What types of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am excited and honored to work with anyone who may be seeking out a therapist – whether it’s their first time in therapy or not. There’s something powerful about creating a space where people can unlearn shame, reconnect with themselves, and begin to heal – and I feel honored to be a part of that proces

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

One thing I wish all clients knew is that it’s okay to not have it all figured out. Just showing up is enough. Healing isn’t linear, and there’s no one right way to do it. You are allowed to take up space, ask questions, move slowly, and bring your full self into the room – messy parts and all. Therapy is a space where you don’t have to perform strength – you just get to be you.

Why did you choose to practice at Ashe Counseling?

I chose Ashe’ because their values align perfectly with my values as an individual and as a social worker. Ashe’s commitment to being culturally responsive, providing trauma-informed care, and focus making mental health services accessible aligns with the work that I want to do as a clinician and social worker.
