A Bit About Me

Hello, I'm Megan, a passionate and dedicated Licensed Master Social Worker and therapist with Ashé. I am often described as genuine, thoughtful, dedicated, and reliable. My clients experience me as a warm, empathetic, and honest presence. In my experience, therapy is a powerful journey that allows us all to feel the connection, catharsis, and deep introspection that we lack in our day to day lives. I firmly believe that within each person, there lies the innate capacity for healing and transformation, and my role is to guide you in accessing and nurturing that potential. My holistic approach to therapy derives from a multitude of evidence-based therapies including psychodynamic therapy, attachment based therapy, CBT, DBT, mindfulness based technique’s and a strengths-based approach. My areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship stress, coping skills, and addiction. My background is primarily in substance abuse and mental health. Overtime, I have developed my clinical skills and gained experience working with adults, families, veterans, individuals with ASD, and individuals affected by the criminal justice system. Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, traveling, cooking, and exploring nature through paddle boarding or hiking. In between sessions you can find me on my hot girl walk or dancing in my living room.

Why did you decide to become a social worker?

Ultimately, my journey towards becoming a mental health therapist is rooted in a deep sense of empathy, a fascination with the human psyche, and a genuine commitment to supporting individuals on their path to mental and emotional well-being. It is a profession that aligns with my values and allows me to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I'm most excited to work with clients who are willing, motivated and committed to exploring their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with honesty and self-reflection. I enjoy working with clients who are eager to learn new skills and insights that can lead to a more fulfilling life and who are curious about understanding the underlying factors contributing to their concerns. Working with clients who possess these qualities can make therapy a rewarding and transformative experience for both the therapist and the client. It allows for a deeper and more meaningful therapeutic relationship and facilitates positive outcomes.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

Therapy is a collaborative process. It takes both the client and therapist to actively participate, be honest, and accept being uncomfortable. Growth often involves confronting uncomfortable thoughts and emotions. Clients should be prepared for moments of discomfort during therapy. These moments can be opportunities for growth and self-awareness.
