About Me

Hi, I’m Kevin. I’m a licensed social worker deeply passionate about helping people feel seen, heard, and supported. I’m originally from East Saint Louis, IL, where I experienced many of the struggles that come with being a person of color in the inner city. Because of this, I believe therapy not only provides a space for healing and self-exploration but also offers the tools we need to navigate and push back against systemic injustice in our lives.

Before joining Ashe Counseling, I worked in both private practice and medical settings, providing mental health care and connecting people with the resources they need to thrive. I hold a BFA in Acting from Millikin University and a Master’s in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago.

I believe each client is the hero of their own story, and it’s my privilege to bear witness to that journey. I’m honored to walk alongside my clients as they grow, heal, and step more fully into their power.

Outside of my work, you’ll often find me attending a theatrical production, performing in one myself, or exploring a new restaurant in the city.

Why did you decide to become a social worker ?

I decided to become a social worker because a social worker saved my life when I was young. That experience taught me the power of having someone truly listen, believe in you, and stand by your side when you feel most alone. I know how much it matters to see yourself reflected in the person sitting across from you.

As a Black, queer, and spiritual person, I believe it’s so important for diverse voices to show up in spaces of healing. I feel called to help create change, hold space, and remind others that they don’t have to carry their burdens alon

What types of clients are you most excited to work with?

I’m most excited to work with clients who are curious about their own experiences and lives and who desire change—in whatever form that may take. I believe the therapeutic space is one of collaboration, and nothing excites me more than partnering with someone ready to explore, learn, and grow. Together, we can uncover strengths, face challenges, and create meaningful steps toward the life you want to live.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

I wish all client knew and understood just how brave they are to make the choice to do the necessary work to create change in their lives.

Why did you choose to practice at Ashe Counseling?

I believe Ashe truly cares about the clients that they serve. When I first met the staff at Ashe, I felt completely at home and knew I would be supported.
