A Bit About Me
Hey there! My name is Cynthia and I go by Cyn. I am a National Certified Counselor, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois, and a Mental Health Therapist at Ashé Counseling and Coaching. I have been described as caring, empathetic, and funny. My clients have described me as a good listener, warm, and nonjudgmental.
My goal as a therapist is to empower you. I am passionate about creating a safe space for you to tell your life stories where you will feel seen, understood, and cared for. Together we will create goals you wish to meet. I use a psychodynamic and interpersonal approach. I consider how your culture and the trauma you may have experienced has impacted your mind and body. I also use other theories when I see it may benefit the client like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, and Person-Centered.
I was born and raised in Chicago and am Mexican-American. I attended DePaul University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Writing and a Master of Education degree in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. My training has included working with students and exploring themes of anxiety, depression, life transitions, identities, relationships, and trauma.
When I am not meeting with clients, I love spending time with my family including my dog, Koba, eating with friends, listening to music and podcasts, and watching tv shows!
