About Me

I am a clinical intern at Ashé Counseling and Coaching and am currently working towards my master’s in social work at the University of Chicago. I am originally from Southern California, but have spent the past four years in Portland, Oregon where I received my B.A. in social work

from the University of Portland with a minor in sociology. I believe that interpersonal relationships and how our experiences have shaped us play a crucial part in who we are as people and how we interact with those in our lives. Words that friends and family have used to describe me are compassionate, fun and fun-loving, understanding, and open-minded.

I believe that a therapeutic relationship is a two-way street– a collaboration effort in which I support your goals and what you want out of your therapy experience. I take a client-centered and trauma-informed approach and tailor my strategies and practices to your life to best uplift your personhood and lifestyle. I utilize strategies from cognitive behavioral therapy with an emphasis on behaviorism, culturally sensitive therapy, harm reduction, person-in-environment, and acceptance & commitment therapy.

As a second-gen Filipina American, I take a particular interest in cultural identity amongst Asian Americans. Studies have shown that Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are the least likely to seek mental health resources compared to other racial-ethnic groups, and I am committed to aiding in changing this narrative. My work is guided by a focus on social justice and equity, which informs my therapeutic practices with clients. With a background in social work, I specialize in addressing topics related to socioeconomic inequality, family systems, BIPOC experiences in the context of the U.S., and the impact of our societal systems on our lives.

I have worked as program support for a nonprofit organization working with the folks experiencing houselessness and substance use, done equity education for youth and adolescents, and worked as a school social worker in a public high school. When I am not working or going to school, I am typically looking for concerts or shows around town, exploring different parts of the city with friends, or trying new recipes for my cast iron skillet.
