I am a Clinical Therapist at Ashé Counseling & Coaching who works with individuals experiencing depression and anxiety, traumatic stress, and relationship difficulties. I am compassionate, warm, and empathic. My clients view me as affirming, caring, and relatable.
My goal is to provide a healing space to work with you in cultivating acceptance and compassion for yourself, as well as commitment to personal values. My clients have often experienced personal traumas that range from emotional neglect to sexual abuse. I primarily use Relational-Cultural Therapy as a theoretical guide to therapy, along with what are called acceptance-based behavioral therapies like Third Wave CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I am a strong believer in the value of mindfulness to help people change their relationship with their thoughts and experiences, as well as move toward self-compassion.
I grew up in Littleton, Colorado and received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Anthropology from Brigham Young University. I had planned on becoming an academic researcher and so began a PhD program as an anthropologist in the department of Comparative Human Development at the University of Chicago. However, I soon realized that my true passion is in being a companion to people in their personal struggles and growth and so am pursuing a social work degree at UChicago’s School of Social Service Administration. Having completed my first-year internship in a grade school, I also have experience and an interest in working with school-age children experiencing traumatic stress.
I recently completed my first level of yoga teacher certification – something that also informs my views on therapy! – and have enjoyed deepening my personal yoga and mindfulness practice. I am an avid dog lover and enjoy genealogy, cooking, and playing music.
