A Bit About Me
Hi! My name is Kat and my pronouns are they/them, please tell yours! I am a counseling intern at Ashé Counseling and Coaching. I specialize in eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and trauma in adolescents and young adults.
I have experience working in residential treatment centers, partial hospitalization programs (PHP), intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for people with eating and mood disorders, have experience working with substance abuse treatment, and completed an internship at a domestic violence shelter.
My therapeutic style is rooted in the belief that everyone has the capacity for growth and healing. I utilize compassion and warmth while also having a straightforward approach. I believe in being honest and transparent while maintaining a deep sense of empathy and respect for your experiences. I utilize and adapt treatment interventions from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). I also take a person-centered approach with all my clients because treatment interventions are not a one size fits all!
Outside of work, you can find me going on adventures with my dog, Oatmeal and spending time with my friends and family. I also enjoy pilates and use this to create a healing relationship with my mind and body.
Why did you decide to become a counselor?
I chose social work because I believe that everyone deserves a space where they feel heard and understood. It's easy for people’s voices to get lost,
and I want to create an environment where individuals can express themselves openly, freely, and without judgment.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I’m most excited to work with individuals who are ready to begin or return to their journey of therapy. Whether you're new to therapy or coming back after a break, your willingness to engage in this process is what truly excites me.
What's one thing you wish all clients knew?
One thing I wish all clients could know is that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. It takes courage to reach out and seek support, and doing so is a powerful step towards growth and healing.
Why did you choose to practice at Ashe Counseling & Coaching LLC
I admire that Ashé provides accessible and affordable care to all communities and I am so grateful that I get to be a part of providing that care.
