A Bit About Me

Hello! My name is Jennifer and I provide therapy as a Licensed Social Worker. People tend to describe me as kind, warm, genuine, goofy, brave, outgoing, and creative. Some feedback I have received from clients regarding my personality includes being open-minded, relatable, caring, fun, empathetic, insightful, and creative. I like to utilize different approaches and techniques to guide my work with clients. A few of these approaches and techniques include strengths-based approach, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), systems theory, holistic approaches including mindfulness and grounding techniques, meditation and stretching, journaling, arts and crafts, and music. One of my core values is connection, connection to ourselves, each other, and our environments. I have the belief that working on ourselves means addressing the mind, body, soul, and spirit as a unit, to encourage personal growth.

A couple facts about myself including that I was born in Chicago and have always lived in the Chitown area. I absolutely adore the city, people, and energy, plus all of the dogs! I am a woman who enjoys and needs nature in her life. I have gone on multiple wilderness canoe trips in Northern Canada which involved utilization of survivalist and endurance tactics. From these endeavors, I learned the phrase “teeth to the wind,” which means to smile in the face of hardship. Other than those intense adventures, I love rock climbing both indoor and outdoor and going to the forest or lake regularly.

Why did you decide to become a social worker?

There are so many reasons as to why I decided to become a Social Worker. The most substantial reason is that I believe it is my calling to help others heal and maintain balance in this chaotic world. We all need support.

What type of clients are you most excited to work with?

I am so excited to work with anyone who is seeking therapy. I do have a special place in my heart for working with adolescents and young to middle-aged adults.

What's one thing you wish all clients knew?

Change begins at the end of your comfort zone. Change can be a messy, unpredictable process. Just like with a thunderstorm, rainbows appear once the storm passes. Trust in the process.

Why did you choose to practice at Ashe Counseling & Coaching LLC

The diversity in clinicians, clientele, locations, therapeutic methods, and community integration all provide balance for me to best do my job in supporting clients. The authenticity and warmth I feel with Ashe and the team is inspiring.

My top 3 feel good songs

Seeking therapy can be scary and then going to therapy can be even scarier. Therapy challenges you to see yourself in a way that you normally wouldn’t
